Occupy Wall Street and Blood Craving Zombies

By: Erin Gingerich ENGL 336, 001

On the chilly, but sunny day of November 1st, many students were spending their afternoons in the Lane Center. When asked her opinion about Occupy Wall Street, Tessa Palumbo says, "I think that because they have money, they don't owe people money... I think it's stupid. Wealthy people don't owe the poor people money, instead they should be getting jobs." Palumbo is a Frostburg local, and is majoring in Early Childhood Education. Sarah Flanagan, a Frostburg student from Germantown, is majoring in Business Adminstration with a concentration in Human Resources. She says, "Personally, I think they need to get those people off the street. They need to go find a job. They want jobs to be handed to them... they're lazy." She also remarks that her concentration in Human Resources may be a part of her bias towards this opinion.
After the Halloween celebrations, many may be taking in the after effects of too many Snickers bars and scary movies. In regards to her chances of surviving a zombie attack, Jenny Toke says, "About seventy-five percent. I've watched a lot of movies and they really prepare you." Toke is an English major, who is from Bedford, PA.
