Are You Prepared for a Zombie Apocalypse?

By Kaitlyn Bates
ENGL 336-001
Despite zombies being a huge pop culture phenomenon, it seems as though many Frostburg students unfortunately do not give much thought to possible zombie attacks. When asked about her chances of survival, Mass Comm major Lashonda Blake said it was "not good" because she is slow. She went on to say that it would be a free for all and helping her friends would not be an option. Geography major Vincent McGettrick decided that he only had a twenty-five percent chance of surviving a zombie attack, and he would "most likely end up hiding in a basement somewhere."

However, two students seem to have plans ready in case they ever experience a zombie outbreak. After asking me for more details such as "what kind of zombie apocalypse?" "Is it an infection?""Are they running? Or is it just walking dead?" Business Major Shaun Calvin gave a lesson in all sorts of zombie lore, finishing by saying he would have an eighty-five percent chance against an infected zombie, a twenty-five percent chance against a running zombie, and in the case of a regular dead walking zombie he would have a ninety-percent chance because he would "just hide in a hole."

"I have a one hundred percent chance at surviving" boasted wildlife and fisheries major Chris Briles. He attributes his high rate to his knowledge of survival skills and belief in survival of the fittest. "I'm not above doing whatever it takes, even if it means kicking my best friend in the knee and running." Briles also stated that he would sleep in trees so that zombies could not get to him.
