The Aspiring Teacher Nick Amick, that loves Music and Writing

On February 4, 1992, Tracey Hoblitzell and Wayne Amick welcomed there new son Nick Amick into this world. Nick Amick was born in Cumberland, Maryland and has two half siblings, Chris and Amber. Nick graduated from Allegany High School in 2010. However, in high school he was a part of numerous teams and clubs. Nick was part of the Spanish club, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), drama club, football for one year and also did basketball outside of Allegany High. Nick has also been working at the Country Club Mall for over five years now. He was a manager at game stop but quit two years ago to work at FYE music store. He wanted to work at FYE since he was 16 years old and finally had the opportunity to work there.

Now you are probably wondering what is so great about working at FYE. One thing about Nick is that he loves music. Being at FYE allows him to be around all types of music. “Music is my biggest interest” he says. One thing about Nick is that he loves music. He does not have a favorite type of music, he appreciates all styles. However, his favorite band is Alkaline Trio. Nick also got to meet and take a picture with the lead singer of the band three years ago. Throughout Nick’s life, he has seen over 100 bands play live. Every year Nick and his friends take a trip to Ohio for a week to attend the Rock on the Range festival at the Columbus Crew Soccer Stadium. Nick talks about how his friends would make fun of him because he still likes to purchase CD’s and does not use iTunes or other forms of music. He likes to actually have the product and that is a plus by working at FYE.

For his love of music, he attempts to play different instruments, but admittedly says he has no talent in any of them. While Nick is so fascinated with music, one would not know he wanted to be a teacher unless you sat down and talked to him. Nick hopes to be an elementary school teacher in a local school in the Cumberland or West Virginia area. One thing that he also enjoys is writing. He hopes to be able to write on the side as he teaches. Nick used to want to write but he realized it would be hard making a living off of just writing. While attending Frostburg, Nick was taking a class where they had to do 20 hours in an elementary school, he was assigned to Pre-K at a school in Garrett County. He wasn’t too thrilled to work with Pre-K but then he said it was one of his best experiences and he ended up enjoying it.  While working with those students, Nick got to make a book with the children about what they wanted to do when they grew up. It is fascinating that Nick loves music, loves to write but wants to be an elementary school teacher.
