Winter Wondergirl Laura Cofrancesco

Avid skier and snowmobile enthusiast, Laura Cofrancesco, says that her “family wants to move to New Hampshire, where snowmobiling is much better.” There aren’t many places in Frostburg, Maryland to rent a snowmobile or any other recreational vehicle. There are places in the area that might be good to use them, but most, if not all, are privately owned.

She has driven cross-country and been to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, The Grand Canyon, the Hoover Dam, Venice Beach, Siesta Key and Crescent Beach.  In mid-summer, while on one of the snow-capped mountains in Colorado, she was able to have a snowball fight with her brothers—despite the summer weather in the rest of the state. During her time at the Grand Canyon, she found an old, lost metal shoe of one of the mules. She was able to keep it as a unique souvenir.

Later in life, Laura wants to get married and take a, “month-long honeymoon and visit a bunch of different countries.” Having already visited several of the more interesting states in the United States, she puts her sights on Italy, Brazil, Seychelles Island and several countries in Latin America and islands in the Caribbean.

According to Ms. Cofrancesco, the biggest problem in the world is our government and how the country handles justice. “If they used the death penalty a lot more for like murders and stuff, there would be a lot less of them.” “If they actually enforce laws—like if you steal or something—they would cut an arm off; if you murder or rape somebody then you would be hanged, nobody is going to want to steal, you know?” Most people waiting for trial may disagree with enforcing the death penalty, but others can protest that less people in prison would free up vast amounts of money in the government. “I love to ski, and if the government could free up money and lower taxes I could afford to do it more often.” Laura has a seasonal pass at the Wisp for hours of fun on the slopes. She looks forward to spending her time away from the university this winter, blazing the trails.
