Spotlight on Britteny Collins

By Eunice Contreras, ENGL 336.001

Being interested in school and being social with others is a huge part of being a student at Frostburg State University, that’s why Britteny Collins is a great part of FSU’s student body. Being a junior this year, Collins admits that she enjoys being a part of FSU. Collins chose to come to Frostburg her freshman year because she thought the campus was pretty and she also took into account that in-state tuition would be a big help. Three hours away from FSU, Collins comes from Bel-Air, Maryland. Collins came to Frostburg with the aspirations to major in Mass Communication, but later decided she had more of in interest in marketing. Therefore she chose Business Administration as a major with a concentration in marketing and a minor in public relations. Collins enjoys the creativity that her field of study allows her to explore. While taking fifteen credits this semester, Collins also spends some of her student life involving herself in a sorority.

Before coming back to Frostburg life, Collins kept herself busy this summer. She worked three separate jobs, five days a week. Collins would start out her day working at a grocery store, working in self -check out service, and then she would work as a nanny. Collins would then finish her workdays babysitting. With the money that she was paid, Collins was able to do what she enjoys the most, which is shopping. Also, having family only 45 minutes away from New York gives Collins, her parents and her sixteen year old sister a reason to visit Collin’s favorite city three times a year including summer.

If you see Collins around campus, make sure to stop and say hello to the hardworking and dedicated student.
