The History of the Earth's Atmosphere

Focus Frostburg is a day to learn about our sustainable future. There are different speakers discussing different topics. Dr. Robert Doyle is a professor in the physics and engineering department. His discussion was mainly about the Earth and sun's atmosphere, and how it was formed along with the planets. Other points in his discussion were about astrology.

Dr. Doyle stated that the earth and sun formed about 5 billion years ago. "We base it on what we see in the universe," said Doyle. He also said that the earth is not that old. "The earth has been here for 4.6 billion years, that’s' not as old as other planets and stars," said Doyle. There was a discussion about helium and how it is important that it goes into space. Doyle jokingly stated that helium is very light and if it was on earth everybody would be talking funny. As he spoke there was a lot of good information being said. Such as the air pressure in Venus is 90 times compared to the earth’s air pressure. "I would not recommend going there; you would be crushed and fried. It’s about 900 degrees there," said Doyle jokingly.

Doyle's discussion was very straight forward and he told a lot of facts. He asked if anybody believed his theory. I believe that his theory is accurate.
