A Fish for a Cause
On April 15 2011 Frostburg State University (FSU) held Relay for Life. This is an event to raise money and awareness for cancer. Relay was very popular on that day, having more than a hundred people out on the track. There were a lot of teams relaying to raise money for the American Cancer Society. One of the teams was Delta Zeta. Delta Zeta is an on campus sorority at FSU.
This year’s theme was a carnival and Delta Zeta's team picked an all time favorite carnival game in hope to raise a lot of money. Their game was to just get two balls in a cup and you can win a goldfish. Lauree Holland who is a member and a sophomore at FSU said, "This is a great way to raise money and its fun!" I was informed that Delta Zeta was raising a lot of money and was currently the silver team. Their mission was to get the gold. Holland mentioned that the sorority has been fundraising all year and had just turned in a folder with about $1800 in it. "That's just one folder, who knows how much we will turn in next," said Holland.
Every year FSU holds this event. Being a part of this event is a great opportunity to show that you care. Even if you do not help raise money, showing support is just as good. If you did not make it to this year's relay make sure you come out and support Frostburg's Relay for Life.
