A Library Staff's Consensus

Although the rest of the country is split between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama for the presidency, there seems to be an agreement among the employees of Frostburg State University's Library. Despite their demographic differences, Vincent Rawlings, an African American male student, Charles Courtney, a middle-aged white male, and Celina Szymanski, a white female student, are all voting for Obama. As Courtney stated, he is voting for Obama for "a lot of good reasons." "I don't think that Romney has an agenda for the country for the next four years," he added.

While many Romney supporters like to point out the shortcomings of Obama's first term, Szymanski had a more optimistic point of view. "I still believe he's going to change the country for the better and he just needs more time in office to achieve his goals." She said. Romney, in her opinion, fails to connect with the middle class. Rawlings, coming from a middle class family, also felt that his family would be better supported by Obama even if he did not agree with all of Obama's views. "I'm against same sex marriage," he said, "but I believe Obama can offer me more than Romney."

The national polls are not so one-sided, however. Some estimations do put Obama ahead of Romney, but with a much smaller gap. This election is still very much undecided, and depends on people like these library employees to voice their opinion in the voting booths today.
