By: Magdala Louissaint, ENGL 336.003

Sarah Reilly, born on March 26th in Virginia but has only resided there for a month, is a 19 years old and is currently a sophomore from Calvert, Maryland. She graduated from Calvert High School where she played soccer her freshmen year and was a cheerleader for three years. High school clubs she contributed her talent to were the yearbook, chorus and theater her senior year. Reilly lives with both her parents and has two younger brothers Stephen who is 13 years old and Thomas who is 17 years old and a senior in high school. Reilly spoke about what it is like to live in Calvert County; she states that “it has taught me to be creative.” Reilly goes on to describe how her and her friends would make a list of things to do on the weekends and try their best to do all on the list. The closest mall is an hour away, and they’ve taken trips to Solomon’s Island where there are restaurants, board walks and where she watches movies, “movies are a big thing, we love to go to movies.” Hobbies that keep Reilly occupied would be soccer she says that her family is a soccer family. Other hobbies that keep Reilly occupied is that she enjoys sledding, while she’s up here in Frostburg, sledding is a way to enjoy the snow, “It’s fun to go to the graveyard and sled.”

Reilly currently attends Frostburg State University majoring in Graphic Design/ Photography and looks forward to working for a magazine after graduating. Currently Reilly does photography outside of school; she takes family photos, which she is getting paid for. To see Reilly’s photography art work go to smugmug.com type in the search engine: Sereilly0 and on the website Reilly’s photographs that she’s personally taken will appear. This Spring semester she is taking Art classes such as Three Dimensional Design, Graphics Design, Photography and Art History. Reilly says this statement about her Art History class “It’s really boring its not really an art class, its just about facts.” Future plans Reilly has in store for herself is transferring to Salisbury University, where she loves the area because of the beach and there’s one nearby the school. Reilly also states that its closer to home and in about a week she will hear from the university to see if she's been accepted. Reilly lives off campus on Bowery Street. She used to live in Edgewood Commons last school year with three other roommates. With two of those girls she decided to move off campus with. Reilly shares a story of her roommate experience and she moving off campus. She says while living in Edgewood Commons she had three roommates one of which became “psycho” during the semester. Reilly and her two friends that she did get along with decided to move off campus this school year. Now she has a new girl living with her who is a high school friend of one of her roommates. Reilly describes that the new girl “seems to be okay” and maybe things will change as the semester goes on. Since being here at Frostburg, she has worked at the Kohls and did not like the idea of working retail ever again because it was boring. Reilly also says that the people and teachers here in Frostburg are nice also stating that the Art department is not strong. Reilly mentions that they only have one graphic design teacher and the food in Frostburg is not that great. “That’s why I want to go to Salisbury, 'cause their Art department is amazing and so is their food.”

Reilly has an adventurous side of traveling to many places. She's been to New York and Florida often. One summer her fifth grade year her parents bought an RV and they travelled to states from Maryland to California, it took a month to get there and back. Recently this winter break she went to Washington, DC for a day, there she visited the National Museum of American History. Unfortunately she did not celebrate this past Christmas till the day after because of the snow storm and half of the family did not show up due to those circumstances.

Interesting facts about Reilly are that her favorite color is blue-ish/ green; she loves a joke that will make her cry of laughter, she has a boyfriend that she's been dating since the end of their senior year of high school, for two years and a month now. She also sang in the church band all throughout high school and was a lead singer and her voice was a tenor. The type of music Reilly likes is new music that is currently out. She enjoys various genres such as Pop, Hip-Hop, R&B, and Rap every once in a while because “Rap is not the same anymore.”
