Ms. Red Carpet: Arrielle Smallwood-Evans

Arrielle Smallwood-Evans entered the world August 30, 1990 as an exceptional Virgo. She was born into the busy city of Baltimore, Maryland which she and her family soon left to move to Aberdeen, Maryland. Arrielle attended Aberdeen High School where she realized early her dreams of becoming a TV reporter and a “red carpet extraordinaire.” She speaks on her family and being the middle of four siblings, two of which are in her life: her oldest brother, Avery, who is 22 and her little sister Diamond, who is 18. Arrielle and her mom had a much stronger relationship while she was growing up, and although it is still strong, she states, “The relationship has changed.” She says her aunt is her favorite person in her family, “Because I can talk to her about anything.” She talks briefly about her father and how, although he is not her biological father, she has grown a strong bond with him. She also touches on a past childhood experience that would change her life. She talks about how her best friend, Tierah, who was a tomboy, loved basketball and pushed her to try out for the team. At first, Arrielle was hesitant but in the end, she did it. She was nervous that she would not make it based on her “girlie” style. However, her talent reigned victorious and changed her mind. Not only did she make the team but she also won a highly recognized reward for good sportsmanship. She talked about the lesson the experience taught her that she could overcome anything by just doing something she never thought she could do.
Arrielle, the inspiring young women, now a senior at Frostburg State University wishes to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and a Minor in Theatre. Her dream is to become a unique interviewer on the latest fashion trends, gossip, and fortune of celebrities. Her dreams also form around being an actress that “comes alive on stage.” She states, “I am very animated, however I am very reserved and laid back.” With that she speaks about her daily hobbies which feed her passion for entertainment and news. She speaks about her readings on daily news of celebrities from www.mediatakeout.com and watching popular reality TV shows such as Jersey Shore. Arrielle is very passionate about acting; however she states “I want to act. I love to act. I’m just wondering if I could fit in.” Pursuing this as her minor she knows acting will come into play soon. She also speaks on her simple hobbies and things she just loves to do such as swimming, taking naps, and going out to enjoy any sort of seafood or pasta, “Especially chicken parmesan”. If she could go anywhere in the world she would go to Italy, “It’s beautiful”, she says, “but the men are even more gorgeous.” Using the gorgeous Italian men as a transition, she then touches on her past relationships and how she is no longer interested in childish games that come with them. Her favorite male celebrity is Will Smith. She talks about his exceptional talent and how she thinks he should have won more Grammy’s. She also speaks about her newly found connection with her favorite female R and B artist, the popular “red-head phenomenon” Rihanna. She states, “I can just connect with her. I understand her.” She later speaks about how mature she has become and how her role as a positive female in society today will help mold her, and make her more successful as an future interviewer.
