Voters headed to the polls today to cast their vote. Maryland’s 6th District race for a seat in Congress has been overshadowed by the presidential race and other questions hitting the polls today in Maryland. Closer on the home front is the election of a representative of Congress for the local area.
Roscoe Bartlett, the incumbent, has been in the job since 1992. When asked if Bartlett has worn out his welcome, Wendy Wilson of the Graduate Services Department said, “It might be a time for a change.” The feeling was also exercised by Dr. Mary Anne Lutz, Professor for the English department, who stated that we need someone, “more energetic.”
As voters cross party lines, there are still many that adhere to their political party. John Boyle, a visitor to the Frostburg campus, does just that when it comes to local representation. Boyle said, “I usually vote within my political party.”
The voter turn-out is expected to be many due to the presidential race. This could be good or bad news for the parties seeking the seat in the U.S. Congress.
