Rashad Bass: Photography Pursuer
By
Emily Bennett, ENGL 336.001
Rashad
Bass, known to others as “Logan,” is a junior at Frostburg State University
majoring in marketing. He will not be
graduating from Frostburg though, because he will be leaving for a job as a
photographer for the NFL once the draft has been picked.
He is originally from
Baltimore, Maryland and has two sisters, one in high school, the other in
middle school, and a brother who goes to the same high school as he did. His father owns various businesses in
Baltimore and his mother owns her own hair salon. “I come from a family of entrepreneurs,” he
commented. Rashad is living off-campus
with his six-month old baby, an American Bulldog named Drew. He smiled and brought Drew’s picture up on
his laptop. He is a “beautiful,
beautiful demon” that recently ate Rashad’s old camera.
Mr.
Bass enjoys photography and owns Logan H. James Photography. “Photography is my passion,” Rashad said
joyfully. He works for Street Smart
Magazine (www.streetsmartmag.com),
running the photography team. He has
photographed many famous people, including Fantasia, Miguel, Two Chainz, Meek
Mill, and Common. He is also nominated
for four awards for the Maryland Fashion Awards. Rashad is also the co-owner of a marketing
firm called Plan B Marketing.
Rashad
Bass does not watch many movies, but when he does he likes to watch
suspense or comedic movies. The last
movie he saw was Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1. When asked what he thought about the Twilight
movie Rashad said, “That’s my movie, man.
Team Edward all day.” He plays
more video games than watches movies or reads books. In his opinion “reading is boring.” A strange hobby that he has is getting
tattoos. Rashad currently has fourteen
tattoos. He has two half-sleeves, a
chest piece, and his left side is a tattoo, just to name a few that he has.
Rashad
is involved in various religious groups including Generations Investigating God
and the Baptist Student Ministry. When
asked what his favorite saying was he said it was one his pastor had said at a
bible study, “I am not who I was. I am
not who I’m going to be. I’m somewhere
inbetween.” Rashad says that “because of
God I am who I am today… and it’s real.”
In five years, he sees himself having the biggest photography business
in the world, spanning countries and continents. “I don’t stop, I don’t get complacent, there’s
always room for growth,” he says.
