By: Bonnie Beasley, ENGL 336-001
Bernard Agyakwa is a twenty year old sophomore at Frostburg State University. He was born on January 19, 1993. With hopes to start a non-profit organization, he is a mass communication major. He was born in Ghana but moved to Maryland at the age of six. He has moved a few times within the state of Maryland. Agyakwa's parents thought that he and his two sisters would have a better future in the United States than they would in Ghana. He attended Clarksburg High School in Montgomery County. At Frostburg, he lives in the apartments behind the Cumberland dorm, more commonly known as "the projects." As a freshman, living on campus, he lived in the Cumberland dorm. Agyakwa owns a 2005 Nissan Altima.
When it comes to music, Agyakwa prefers rock bands. His favorite animals are dogs and lions. However, he does not have any pets. Agyakwa's favorite color is blue. He loves football; his favorite team is the Ravens. The Ravens winning the Super Bowl was very exciting to him. Agyakwa finds Ray Lewis to be inspirational. While playing football, Agyakwa tore his right shoulder, and tore the left one the following week. Those injuries were Agyakwa's worst moments. His favorite thing to do is to play the guitar which he has been doing for two years. He has had other injures such as a fractured knee and a dislocated disk. When asked what his favorite thing about Frostburg is he said, "It's cheap." Frostburg was not Agyakwa's first choice for college but George Mason was too expensive. His best subject is English; however, he prefers writing over reading.
If Agyakwa could go anywhere in the world he would choose to go to California, more specifically the bay area. One thing he wants to do before he dies is visit every continent in the world except for Antarctica because it is too cold there. Based on the way Agyakwa acts you can tell that he is a kind hearted person with a bright future ahead of him. His plans to start a non-profit organization show he wants to help people in need.
