The month of April symbolizes numerous things. April is awarness month for autism, sexual assult, child abuse, rape prevention and many other topics. On Wednesday April 3, 2013 the men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated held a walk for autism. This walked started at 5:00pm and numerous people met in front of Annapolis Hall. Before starting the walk, one of the Alpha Phi Alpha members James Woodland Jr gave a speech. He talked about autism and gave information on the cause.

“I have a family member that is autistic and I wanted to show support that I care and it not only affects them but it effects me as well” said James Woodland Jr.(One of the Alpha Phi Alpha members).

After the speech was given, the men started the walk. Two of the members of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity held their banner at the beginning of the line and eberyone else followed behind them. All the people that came to participate in the wwalked receive ribbons that represented autism. The group started at Annapolis Hall and ended at the clock tower next to the Lane Center. When they reached the clock tower, everyone took pictures and the members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated thanked everyone for coming out and supporting them in this walk for autism. Although the weather was cold and the wind was blowing, numerous people still came out and supported the cause.

“I feel as though no one recognizes this month nor do they shed light on the disorder and how it impacts others and that is why we chose to arrange this walk” said Nyakeh Nyaly. (One of the Alpha Phi Alpha members).

The autism ribbons that were made for all the participants were mand by one of the Alpha Phi Alpha members Tony Mancuso.
